“The EU has nothing to do with the Minsk process” – Russia’s permanent representative in Brussels
The transfer of the negotiation platform for resolving the conflict in Donbass from Minsk, which Ukraine is seeking, is not being seriously discussed.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this in an interview with Izvestia, Russia’s permanent representative to the EU Vladimir Chizhov said.
“In Ukraine, everything is not discussed,” Chizhov said, answering a corresponding question.
In turn, the publication noted that the Poles proposed holding negotiations on Donbass in Warsaw.
"Yes? Interesting. But they didn’t offer Vilnius? No, this issue is not being discussed seriously. The European Union has nothing to do with the Minsk negotiations or the Minsk format. As is known, a trilateral contact group operates there, political support is provided by representatives of the Normandy format, in this case Germany and France, and the European Union has nothing to do with this,” the diplomat clarified.
He was also asked whether the possibility of Ukraine joining the European Union was being discussed.
“I think first they need to build a station on the Moon - this is a more realistic goal,” Chizhov answered ironically.
