Kommersant’s interlocutor in Brussels called the EU strategy towards the peninsula “a policy of aggressive non-recognition.” According to him, if the relevant principles are approved by the summit, “European companies will have to think carefully before investing in Crimea or cooperating with Russian partners registered on the peninsula.”
“Goods produced in Crimea will not be allowed on the EU market; European firms cooperating with Crimean ones will face difficulties when doing business in Ukraine and the EU itself - in particular, when participating in state tenders and obtaining loans; planes will not be able to fly from the EU to Crimea, and ships calling at Crimean ports will not be covered by European insurance,” the official explained.
