As the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides said today, this is the largest humanitarian assistance program in the history of the EU.

The so-called Emergency Social Assistance Program is expected to provide support to about a million Syrian refugees who need it most. Starting from October 2016, they will be able to receive money on their payment cards every month, which will be used for essentials: buying food and other things necessary for life, paying for housing, and training. At the same time, Christos Stylianides did not say how much money each refugee will receive, because, according to him, this will be determined individually in each individual case.
