The EU praised Ukraine for joining sanctions against Russia over the elections in Crimea
Ukraine, Albania, Montenegro and Norway have joined EU sanctions against Russia for holding elections in Crimea, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in the message of the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Federica Mogherini, published on the website of the Council of the European Union on Tuesday, June 12.
“The candidate countries Montenegro and Albania, the European Free Trade Association member country Norway, which is part of the European Economic Area, and Ukraine have joined this declaration,” the statement says.
Brussels welcomed this decision of the four countries.
Let us recall that on May 14, the Council of the EU decided to impose sanctions against five individuals responsible for the conduct of the presidential elections in the Russian Federation in Crimea and Sevastopol.
The sanctions list includes heads, their deputies and secretaries of election commissions in Crimea and Sevastopol.
