The EU received from Ukraine a list of “enemies” in Crimea
The European Union received from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine a list with 140 names of “enemies of Ukraine” - people involved in the organization and conduct of the Russian presidential elections in Crimea, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
EU spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic announced this today in Brussels.
“I can confirm that our services have received a list from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine with the names of those who were involved in the organization and conduct of the Russian presidential elections in the illegally annexed Crimea and Sevastopol. In this context, I would like to remind you that the EU does not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol, and therefore does not recognize the holding of elections on the Crimean peninsula,” she said.
Kocijancic noted that the issue of holding elections on the peninsula was raised at yesterday's meeting at the level of EU foreign ministers.
According to her, the statement released yesterday noted that not a single EU observation mission was present in Crimea during these elections. In addition, she recalled the existing sanctions that were applied in this regard against 150 people and 39 organizations.
“Any decisions to make changes to current events by adding more people to the list will be made unanimously by the Council,” the spokeswoman added.
Let us recall that earlier Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin announced that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry had prepared and decided to transfer to the EU foreign ministers lists of persons who participated in the Russian presidential elections in Crimea.
