The EU chided Ukraine for corruption, but praised it for the murder of medicine and education
The European Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, expressed dissatisfaction with Ukraine’s “regression” on the path of reform, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There are some areas where there is a certain regression in our cooperation on your part. I think our position here is clear. In the energy sector, we do not see the opportunity to leave everything unchanged,” Khan said at a meeting with Prime Minister Groysman on Friday in Kyiv, the Government Portal reports.
According to him, Ukraine also needs to continue the fight against corruption.
At the same time, Khan thanked the Ukrainian government for the unpopular and antisocial reforms, in particular, health care and education.
“Not always popular things were carried out, in particular with regard to increasing tariffs for the population, which made it possible to reach an agreement with the IMF, which opened the way for EU macro-financial assistance,” the European Commissioner added.
Later, in his micro-blog on Twitter, Khan wrote that at the meeting with Groysman he emphasized the need for further reforms, in particular in the economic sector.
“He emphasized that we must see more reforms in the economy, energy and the fight against corruption,” the European Commissioner added.
