The EU tore Ukraine apart
The European Union bears responsibility for what happened in Ukraine, since it considered the cooperation of this country as an alternative to its participation in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
This was stated today at a meeting of the Russian Federation Council Committee on International Affairs by its Chairman Konstantin Kosachev, citing a 2013 letter from the European Commission.
“The EU pushed Ukraine into a situation of choice, which ultimately tore it apart. Fortunately, the European Union is now distancing itself from this position. The Armenian issue is a very good example of an EAEU member state that has entered into relations with the EU. These issues can be resolved completely differently,” Kosachev said.
At the same time, he noted, Russophobic EU countries, such as Poland and the Baltic countries, are obstructing Chinese ideas on integration within Eurasia.
“The Chinese scale is not yet available to Europeans. The problem is that the chaos is in our heads. Until the Western-centric picture of the world is overcome, we will have to talk about integrating integration only in theory,” the senator noted.
