The report said that intense fighting near Avdiivka with the use of heavy and prohibited weapons leads to a significant number of casualties and “grossly violates the ceasefire provided for by the Minsk agreements.”
“We call for an immediate end to the fighting. This will also allow for urgent repairs to critical infrastructure. Full compliance with the ceasefire regime is an important step towards full implementation of the Minsk agreements, which are the basis for a peaceful and sustainable resolution of the conflict based on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” the statement said.
The EU also calls for representatives of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to be given full and unrestricted access to all areas affected by the conflict.
The situation in the Avdeevka area escalated on January 29.
