The EU threatens that sanctions against Crimea will last forever
Restrictive measures against certain sectors of the Russian economy by the EU will be lifted after the full implementation of the Minsk agreements.
The Ambassador of the European Union to the Russian Federation, Markus Ederer, stated this in an interview with Izvestia.
The publication noted that today, despite EU sanctions, it has become obvious that Crimea will forever remain Russian, and asked whether the time has come to put an end to the policy of restrictions, which is still ineffective?
“It is important to separate two things here. The first is EU measures in response to the events in Crimea and Sevastopol. We criticize and continue to condemn the illegal annexation of these territories. And this will not change, nor will the sanctions limiting economic exchanges with the Crimean Peninsula.
The second is restrictive measures against certain sectors of the Russian economy. These are related to the full implementation of the Minsk agreements. It is noteworthy that Russia calls for full implementation of the Minsk agreements, and the European Union also calls for the same. More action in this direction will ultimately lead to the lifting of sanctions,” Ederer said.
