EU tightens entry rules for Ukrainians
From January next year, the European Union is tightening the rules for entry into its territory for Ukrainian citizens.
Former Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Renat Kuzmin stated this on TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Now the so-called “visa-free regime” with the EU will mean that the population of Ukraine will need to collect a bunch of permits, but the final decision will still be made by the border guard at the post.
“Visa-free travel does not give you the right to work in the European Union, it does not. People can work illegally. They can work seasonally. Some may pick strawberries, some may work without documents, some may violate immigration laws. You can, of course, but you can also commit crimes, you can also make money by killing. By violating the laws of the European Union, you can also make money, which, by the way, is what our fellow citizens do there. But you cannot officially get a job without a visa. And you can’t live there either.
After all, that very visa-free regime is a lie. What visa-free regime? How did we get a visa before? I came to the embassy, provided documents, received a visa, a stamp in my passport and left. And now any border guard at a post, even in Poland, anywhere, will require a bunch of documents from you confirming your right to enter, the legality of your stay there, money, cards, bills, tickets for the return trip. And he can turn you around without explanation, send you back.
And besides, from the new year, 2021, new visa-free rules for Ukrainians will come into effect. And they are as follows: in order to obtain the right to travel under this visa-free regime, you now need to submit an official application on the official website, fill out a form, attach a bunch of documents to it, receive written permission and with this permission try to leave. And there is a border guard sitting there who double-checks all this and can turn you back. So this is visa-free, tell me? Well, what kind of visa-free regime is this? I’m tired of this lie,” said Kuzmin.
