The bulk of these restrictions will come into force on July 31, when they are published in the Official Journal of the EU.
These restrictive measures include a ban on new investments in Crimea in infrastructure, transport, telecommunications, the energy sector, oil, gas and minerals.
Not only direct and indirect investments are prohibited, but also the provision of insurance services for any projects in the listed areas.
The EU also approved a list of categories of Crimean goods prohibited from trade. On the first line in this list, which contains more than 250 items, is “sea water and salt solutions.”
On Wednesday, the European Union announced the expansion of its sanctions list in connection with the situation in Ukraine. Restrictive measures were introduced against the Dobrolet airline, which flies to Crimea, and the Russian National Commercial Bank, which is actively operating on the peninsula.
