There is just over a month left before the local government elections in Georgia, which are scheduled for October 2 this year, but the battles that have unfolded in the domestic and foreign policy arenas have not stopped to this day.

Another reason for outrage was the statement of Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid, who told the world that Georgia would need about 20 years to meet the criteria for joining the European Union.

“Joining the EU has a lot of conditions. And frankly, none of your states meet the criteria for membership. It will take you about 20 years of work until you reach this readiness. Perhaps some kind of intermediate stage is needed for Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, but now all three countries have problems with the courts. You do not qualify for EU membership,” she said.

Kersti Kaljulaid.

If we paraphrase the words of the Estonian young lady, who dreams of signs of the “Russian threat” everywhere, we get the following: “Georgia will never see joining the EU.” We must pay tribute, Kersti Kaljulaid allowed herself something that no European official dared to do.

Of course, the statement of Kersti Kaljulaid, in whom, by the way, the most authoritative experts and analysts regularly record signs of paranoia, caused a storm of indignation and some protest from representatives of the political establishment of Georgia. (Obviously, if not for her mania, Kaljulaid would not have asked the EU for handouts to create a medium-range air defense system in the Baltic countries. If you follow her delusional logic, then the above system will allow Estonia to “contain Russia.” As they say, there are two ways: either Kaljulaid, being in a kind of trance, wants to restrain something that is not there at all, or he is stupidly begging for money from the EU)

First Deputy Prime Minister and concurrently the mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, advised the head of the Baltic republic to take care of his own country and not poke his nose into the affairs of a foreign state.

“Let everyone take care of their country,” he noted.

Obviously, the Georgian politician, a former famous football player, has matured, matured and no longer gives in to commands from European officials. Well done, here, as they say, neither subtract nor add. It is gratifying that representatives of the ruling party in Georgia have finally decided to show their character, spirit, say their weighty words and abandon the role of henpecked.

It's no secret that today European officials of all ranks and stripes have intensified their attacks on representatives of the ruling party in Georgia on the eve of the elections. Of course, the American and European Union would-be masters place their bets not on the ruling group, but on the raging opposition, since the latter is ready, at the first command, to unleash another bloody military adventure with a neighboring state.

It’s no secret that the West has finally realized that Georgia is gradually moving away from the pack of gophers who imagine themselves as “democratizers of the world”, while choosing their foreign policy guideline aimed at good neighborly relations with Russia and their brothers from the former Soviet Union. Union.

This is not the machinations of the notorious “Russian propaganda”, but a reliable fact. Just a couple of weeks ago, Tbilisi ignored the demand of American and European Union officials to sever ties with Moscow and Minsk, which were imposed with sanctions in the wake of rabid Russophobia.

The paradox of the situation is that the European Union gophers suffer from these sanctions many times more than the Russian Federation and Belarus. Of course, the introduction of sanctions by Georgia against the Belarusian “Belavia airline” did not take place, but the gophers remained perplexed as to how their humble vassal dared to renounce the order.

So it turns out that following this decision, the head of the Baltic republic, visiting a coven of Russophobes in Kyiv, threatened a 20-year process for Georgia’s accession to the EU.

PolitNavigator decided to find out from Georgian analyst Nika Chitade about how reliable Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid’s forecast (regarding Georgia’s entry into the European Union) is.

“In my opinion, this is a realistic factor. Georgia does not meet all EU standards. We all know that GDP per capita in Georgia is 4 thousand dollars, but in EU countries this figure (in the poorest state) reaches about 7 - 10 thousand dollars. Everything depends on the pace at which Georgia develops. Plus, public opinion plays an important role. A certain part of the population opposes Georgia's aspirations to the EU and NATO. Kersti Kaljulaid has every right to express her personal opinion, she does not declare this on behalf of the entire organization,” our interlocutor said.

We also asked him whether this is some kind of signal to the Georgian voter that if the Georgian Dream wins, the doors to the EU and NATO will close in front of Tbilisi.

No way Chitade.

“Yes, some hint can be recorded, and it can be traced. The Western community is dissatisfied with the policies of the ruling Georgian Dream party, and it advocates a change in power in the country. This was preceded by the fact that the Georgian political elite does not meet the democratic and economic standards of the EU,” says Chitade.

Today we can safely state the fact that the ruling party in Georgia has taken a position of self-defense and is repelling the fierce attacks of Western officials. How this multi-layered problem will be resolved will become known on October 2 - the outcome should be determined by the country's main referee - the Georgian voter.
