This is stated in a document published on the official website of the service.
“Public disclosure of a corruption investigation by the Prosecutor General’s Office significantly weakens the ability of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) to effectively conduct investigations and undermines public confidence in the effective fight against corruption,” the EEAS noted.
The document states that the fight against corruption is a key element in the development of relations between Ukraine and the EU, on which the success of other reforms lies.
“As already noted, the Ukrainian authorities must strengthen their efforts to ensure the independence, operational capacity and full effectiveness of anti-corruption institutions. The work of these institutions should not be undermined, but strengthened,” the statement emphasizes.
