Another Napoleonic plan of Poroshenko failed completely
Kyiv, January 09 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Semenyuta) - Ukraine is losing the opportunity to make money on food supplies - the only export product whose production increased in 2014. The FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) food price index fell by 2014% in December 1,7, to the lowest level since August 2010 of 188,6 points, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

The FAO price index for dairy products decreased in December by 2,3% compared to November and amounted to 174 points. The decrease in the indicator is caused by an increase in supply on the market and a decrease in imports from a number of largest consumers - in particular, Russia and China.
The sugar price index in December compared to November fell by 4,8% to 219 points. The outlook for sugar production in Brazil, the world's largest sugar producer and exporter, remains positive, but falling fuel prices will mean that less sugar cane will be processed into ethanol.
Cereal prices have risen slightly since November. The decline in rice prices could not fully offset the rise in the cost of wheat, caused by fears that Russia might limit its exports. The grain price index in December increased by 0,4% compared to the November figure and amounted to 183,9 points.
The price index for vegetable oils dropped by 2,4% to 161 points. This dynamics is explained by a decrease in demand for palm oil for biofuel production.
Meat prices decreased in December mainly due to the rising dollar and increased supply. The meat price index averaged 204 points, which is 1,9% lower than in November.
The FAO Food Price Index is a weighted average of monthly changes in international prices for a basket of five food commodity commodity groups: grains, meat, dairy products, vegetable oils and sugar.
It should be noted that current President Petro Poroshenko, while still working as Minister of Economy under Viktor Yanukovych, convinced that Ukraine has always been and will be the breadwinner of Europe.
“Ukraine has always been the breadwinner of Europe... If we had sharply increased the country’s controllability, Ukraine would have become the world’s breadwinner,” Poroshenko drew Napoleonic plans.
