Another person who has seen the light: Ukrainian TV presenter called for the abolition of censorship on Donbass and Putin
The host of the popular Ukrainian talk show “Freedom of Speech” on Ukrainian TV, Andrei Kulikov, called for starting to broadcast the position of representatives of the DPR and LPR, as well as the Russian side, in the news on Kyiv TV channels.
Kulikov made this statement on air on Channel 17 during a video conference between the Kyiv studio and Donetsk and Moscow.
As you know, previously the National Council on TV and Radio Broadcasting introduced sanctions against channels that allowed them to show speeches by Vladimir Putin or even concerts of artists who supported the proclaimed republics in Donbass.
However, Kulikov convinces that after Euromaidan he did not encounter censorship and “temniks”, for example, instructions to call functionaries of the DPR and LPR “separatists”, “militants” or “terrorists”.
Moreover, he stated that Ukrainian TV needs to demonstrate the opinions and opponents of Kyiv.

“Today, for the first time in almost a year and a half, journalists from the Russian Federation called me to get a comment on what is happening in Ukraine. Until February 20, 2014, my colleagues from Moscow constantly called me, asking, which of you could better represent the point of view of nationalists, liberals, authorities, etc.? I was very happy when, on my recommendation or someone else’s, people found their way onto Russian television.
After February 20th – it was so cut off. I got the impression that we simply stopped being interesting to our Russian colleagues, because we do not have the right to express opinions there, etc...
I strive not only to ask us, but also to address Russians, those who live on the territory of the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR. Let's say, on the other side of the front. So that their voices, their thoughts appear in the Ukrainian media space,” Kulikov said.
He assured that he was ready to visit Donetsk if he received security guarantees.
“If they guarantee safety, almost everyone will be ready to go... I’m ready. I believe that you need to know what is happening there,” says Kulikov.
