Another fake from Poroshenko: Imitation of extension of the special status of Donbass
Following the draft law, declaring Russia an “occupier” in Donbass, Petro Poroshenko submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a proposal to extend for another year the special status of the LDPR, which was formally previously approved but never earned in practice.
The corresponding bill was published on the official website of the Ukrainian parliament.

“This is a continuation of the imitation of the Minsk agreements. For this purpose, this small bill has been sent, which supposedly extends for one year the validity of the law on the peculiarities of local self-government of Separate districts of the Lugansk and Donetsk regions - the 2014 bill, which enshrines linguistic self-determination and elections, and control over local authorities, i.e. The Minsk agreements are enshrined.
At the same time, it extends it in a very, let’s say, cunning way - it doesn’t just extend it for a year from October 18, when the 2014 law expires, but extends it for a year from the moment this little new bill is adopted, and this moment of acceptance/non-acceptance can happen at any moment, or it will never happen,” Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik commented on the situation to PolitNavigator.
He was also skeptical about the second bill from Poroshenko, declaring Russia an “aggressor.” According to Bortnik, such a step without dialogue with Donetsk and Lugansk does not bring the return of Donbass closer.
“In this bill, Russia is the aggressor, and Donbass is occupied, which means that now residents of certain regions of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions will not be able to file claims against Ukraine for violation of their rights and freedoms. It is said that thousands of such claims are already being considered in international courts.
This bill expands the powers of the president, starting from direct manual control of the situation in the ATO - through the joint operational headquarters of the military (formerly it was the SBU), ending with the possibility of using armed forces and subsequent approval by parliament...
In addition, there is such an electoral, political technology trick - the ATO is actually cancelled. This will, of course, become a tool for both the Minsk Dialogue and the presidential election campaign.
Of course, these bills will absolutely not reintegrate the Donbass, they will not solve this problem, these bills, like any unilateral decision, will only be a declaration of the Ukrainian position.
Any effective way to resolve this problem can only be built on a multilateral agreement,” Bortnik explained.
