The actions of the government of Vladimir Zelensky clearly make it clear that, despite all the election promises, Ukrainians will see complete impunity of the previous government.
Kiev political scientist Dmitry Korniychuk stated this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What difference does it make, well, if the Constitutional Court starts working, and what will it consider? Have we seen at least one criminal case against officials that can be transferred to this anti-corruption court? What we see: we observe a banal picture of how the new government covers its tracks and covers up the old one. Zelensky was transferred power under the condition of security guarantees for Poroshenko and his entire team.
At first, they delayed any investigations until Poroshenko entered parliament, but now three months have passed, and if you look at the public’s request, people no longer want Poroshenko and his team to be punished,” said the political scientist.
“Today, when Zelensky met with security officials at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, he said, well, you report to me there about what we have about corruption in the agro-industrial complex, and what about corruption in Ukroboronprom you can hear - that is, not a single name is heard anywhere Poroshenko, nor his inner circle, nor Kononenko, nor Svinarchuk. Groysman's name does not appear anywhere.
We see that Avakov generally remained the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which suggests that the Popular Front and this entire company, which was also involved in corruption scandals in Ukroboronprom through Pashinsky or those who were involved in Yatsenyuk’s time corruption scandals, no one will touch them either. Therefore, the fact that we are launching a supreme anti-corruption court does not change anything, because there are no people who can be touched,” added Korniychuk.
The expert emphasized that only “pawns” will be sent to the High Anti-Corruption Court.
“The global problem is that we will see complete impunity for the previous government, and we are already seeing this,” concluded Dmitry Korniychuk.
