Another department in Russia will receive the right to shoot down drones
The Federal Penitentiary Service will be included in the list of departments that are given the authority to suppress drone flights.
Corresponding amendments to the legislation are being prepared in the State Duma, the press service of the Russian parliament reported.
“There are many examples when, with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles, they try to deliver drugs, SIM cards and mobile phones, and other prohibited items to colonies and detention centers, and employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service must have the necessary powers to stop such flights,” explained the head Duma Security Committee Vasily Piskarev.
Previously, Russia tightened the rules governing the use of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Law enforcement officers have received legislative justification for the possibility of suppressing the communication signal with the drone operator, using weapons and military equipment against UAVs over protected objects.
The FSB and the transport department supported the introduction of prohibited zones over crowded places, including rallies.
