If Azov militants do not leave Zolote, LPR troops will return
In the coming days, the process of demilitarization of the village of Zolotoye, where yesterday the breeding process has begun warring parties.
Rodion Miroshnik, representative of the LPR in the contact group at the Minsk negotiations, told Moskovsky Komsomolets about this.
“The current disengagement of troops is de jure called “elimination of violations committed during the disengagement of forces and assets” within the framework of the process that began in 2016. In the next 3 days, the Zolote area should be completely demilitarized. In particular, militants who present themselves as “civil activists” should be removed from there under OSCE supervision. Otherwise, their presence may become a reason for the LPR People’s Militia to return to its positions - this possibility is spelled out in the framework agreement of 2016,” said the LPR representative.
At the same time, he clarified that the LPR has never returned its troops to their original positions, and the Ukrainian army did this in 2018.
“As for the Normandy format, all preconditions for holding the meeting have not yet been met. Firstly, in addition to Stanitsa Luganskaya and Zolotoye, the troops must be separated in Petrovskoye. Secondly, Kyiv must legislate the “Steinmeier formula”. In particular, the Verkhovna Rada must adopt a law on the special status of Donbass, agreed upon with the DPR and LPR, which will say that it comes into force on the day of local elections in Donetsk and Lugansk,” Miroshnik emphasized.
