The head of the Simferopol administration, Gennady Bakharev, stated this on the air of the talk show “Everything as it is.”
“To be fair, it (Simferopol - PN) floated - this is a consequence. The reason is not at all that no one did anything... The point is that we inherited a rather broken, inoperable infrastructure. I will not say that it can be corrected; we must clearly understand that systematic work will only lead to results. To say that we will now locally use all our forces and means to prevent such flooding in the future is yes. Very serious work has been carried out to analyze what happened,” the official said.
To the presenter’s offer to apologize to the residents of Simferopol, he responded in a peculiar way:
“You know, I’m sorry, but this won’t fix the situation. Of course I'm sorry. I apologize not only for the fact that it flooded, I apologize that the roofs were built, which were repaired very diligently, if you look at the reports. I currently have applications for 500 houses out of 3600 in the city. Can you imagine what this is?” asked Gennady Bakharev.
