If Kyiv refuses to pay for gas for Donbass, it will not receive enough for itself
Moscow - Kyiv, February 24 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) - Gazprom has found a way to force Ukraine to pay for Russian gas supplied to the DPR and LPR since February 19. The Russian company simply does not allow Naftogaz of Ukraine to purchase enough gas for future use for itself. If Kyiv continues to resist, it will have to cut off gas supplies to part of the country.

Kyiv hoped to minimize the risks of writing off funds from the already transferred advance by quickly selecting the paid volume, but Gazprom satisfies no more than half of the official requests. Naftogaz of Ukraine believes that the contract has been violated and has already notified the EU about this. But even the prepayment in any case will only be enough until the end of the week, after which Kyiv will either have to transfer money again, including for the DPR and LPR, or seriously limit gas consumption in the country.
According to the source "Kommersant", “Gazprom”, in conditions of sub-zero temperatures in eastern Ukraine, is trying to extend the period of supplying Donbass within the framework of the contract, while “Naftogaz” is trying to shorten this period.
Since February 19, Gazprom has been supplying gas to the DPR and LPR directly in the amount of 12 million cubic meters per day. The monopoly takes these volumes into account in the total consumption of Ukraine, which receives Russian gas only on an advance payment basis.
The Ukrainian company does not want to pay for supplies to the DPR and LPR, but in conditions of advance payments it can avoid this only by disconnecting some of its consumers.
