“If we lose Odessa, we will be finished”: In Kyiv they are preparing for the worst
Odessa is critically important for Ukraine - it is the most important export artery, the loss of which will result in economic collapse.
A blogger, whom Ukrainian media call a “military expert,” Aleksey Arestovich, stated this on the radio “Bukovina Wave,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Arestovich, in the near future the situation in Odessa may worsen due to Russia’s successful experience of blockade of Ukrainian ports in the Sea of Azov.
“We can expect regional provocations. The squeezing of us out of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov and the continuation of aggression will definitely continue. It is not for nothing that NATO is very focused on the issues of the Black Sea, Stoltenberg was there, the political meeting was in Odessa and in the supply of weapons that they give us - anti-ship missiles are appearing for the first time.
That is, NATO clearly identifies their main interests and ours – covering the coast.
The operational combat training of the Ukrainian Armed Forces also shows where our efforts are concentrated. If we lose Odessa, we will be finished economically. Well, not the end, but, let’s say, it will be very difficult, because Ukrainian agricultural imports mainly come through the Black Sea. And so on. In general, the central port. And the Russians know this very well, and they specifically look at it with a purple eye,” said Arestovich.
Ukrainian experts, as PolitNavigator reported, are preparing for a further tightening of Russian actions not only in the Azov Sea, but also in the Black Sea, where the Ukrainian Navy is powerless against the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
The Dumskaya resource, controlled by Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Goncharenko, reported that Russia has already tested the possibility of blockade of Odessa, blocking most of the Black Sea for exercises.
