"If diplomacy fails this week, the effort will continue in a strong manner," Obama said.
“When an issue reaches my desk, there is no easy solution. Can we expect that the weapons we provide to Ukraine will not be used for offensive purposes, etc. - all these questions need to be taken into account,” he said, answering a question from journalists about concerns that weapons that could be granted to Ukraine will fall to the rebels. According to him, all these issues will be weighed and discussed: they are being worked on at the highest level in the United States, and a group of experts has been created in Germany to deal with Ukrainian problems.
“We made huge investments in political diplomacy. The Ukrainian people can be sure that we were somewhere nearby,” he said during a press conference in Washington, which was held jointly with Angela Merkel, who is on an official visit to the United States.
