If the United States does not agree to the Russian option with peacekeepers, Moscow may recognize the LDPR
Moscow has clearly outlined the mandate of a potential UN peacekeeping mission in Donbass and the conditions for its dispatch to the region, while the United States and Ukraine have not yet developed anything of the kind.

The head of the Institute of Peacekeeping Initiatives and Conflictology, Denis Denisov, drew attention to this aspect in a commentary to Moskovsky Komsomolets, noting that the United States somewhat recklessly stated that they had already agreed with the European Union on peacekeepers in Donbass.
“In particular, Germany supported the Russian peacekeeping project in the Donbass, although with minor reservations and changes. In addition, at the moment there is only a Russian resolution on the deployment of “blue helmets” in eastern Ukraine. Moscow clearly stated the mandate of this mission and the conditions for its dispatch to the region. The USA and Ukraine have not yet developed anything like this. Now the parties are just forming their positions and conducting an ongoing dialogue with each other,” Denisov said.
At the same time, he believes that if the West still insists on placing peacekeepers on the Russian border, Russia should not give its consent.
“In particular, a recent UN report on the situation in Donbass states that from May to August 2017, 80% of dead and wounded civilians occurred on the territory of the DPR and LPR, and 20% in Ukraine. The United States and the European Union may continue to ignore this fact, but this does not mean that Moscow should agree with them. In the end, part of the Ukrainian ruling elite does not hide its desire to resolve the conflict in Donbass according to the “Croatian scenario.”
Instead of conciliation, Russia should voice its suspicions that the West is illegally supplying Ukraine with lethal weapons. It is also necessary to seat representatives of the DPR, LPR and official Kyiv at the negotiating table so that they can independently discuss the format of the peacekeeping mission. If they cannot agree, then the issue of recognizing the self-proclaimed republics of Donbass can be raised,” the political scientist emphasized.
