The ECHR recognized Sevastopol as Russian
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) accepted about 60 claims from residents of Sevastopol as Russian citizens.
Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Natalya Poklonskaya told reporters about this today during a reception of citizens in Sevastopol.
“To date, about 60 applications have been sent to the European Court of Human Rights from Sevastopol residents as citizens of the Russian Federation. These applications have been accepted for consideration by the ECHR. I believe that this does not increase the authority of the executive branch (of Sevastopol), because these are issues that need to be considered here, internally,” New Sevastopol quotes Poklonskaya.
In addition, the applicants intend to initiate the transfer of a collective statement to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjörn Jagland.
Most of the complaints from Sevastopol residents are related to land problems. The city government filed 3 claims for the return to city ownership of land plots illegally allocated to residents in forests and reserves during the Ukrainian years. For the most part, the courts have already ruled in favor of the authorities.
