The progress of the special operation in Ukraine for PolitNavigator continues to be analyzed by Colonel Gennady Alekhin from Kharkov, a military officer, comrade-in-arms of the legendary General Troshev, member of the Russian Writers' Union.

At three o'clock in the morning Belgorod woke up. Powerful explosions were heard one after another in the night sky. I counted five, fifteen minutes later it happened again. People who made it in time left their homes, horns blared in cars parked in their yards, and ambulances and utility vehicles raced through the deserted streets of the city.

In fact, this was the second attack on Belgorod from Ukraine. The first occurred in the early morning of April 1. Then two Ukrainian combat attack helicopters hit an oil depot in one of the city's districts with missiles and fired at an industrial zone on the outskirts. Fortunately, no civilians were injured then. Fuel hangars and part of the infrastructure of small enterprises caught fire.

This time there were no casualties. There are dead and wounded. Several private houses in the residential sector were completely destroyed, about 40 were partially destroyed, and 11 apartment buildings (mostly five-story buildings) were damaged. The missile strike area is located several kilometers from the city center. At the intersection of Popov and Mayakovsky streets, next to the Central Regional Scientific Library. The densely built-up private sector coexists with Khrushchev-era buildings and modern multi-storey complexes.

By the morning it became known that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had struck with several ballistic missiles from the Tochka-U operational-tactical complex with cluster munitions. They have been in service with the Ukrainian army since Soviet times. Quite effective and combat-ready. During the military operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have repeatedly used cluster munitions not only against military targets, but also against cities and civilians. For example, in Donetsk and Kramatorsk.

The night arrival in Belgorod was intercepted by air defense systems of the Russian Armed Forces. Three missiles were destroyed in the air, fragments of one of them fell on a residential area, and a fire broke out in some buildings. Considering that cluster munitions can affect an area within a radius of up to 500 meters (filled with metal and other destructive properties), house buildings and cars were damaged, glass was blown out in neighboring five-story buildings, and outbuildings and sheds were demolished by the blast wave.

Unfortunately, several people died, doctors are fighting for the lives of others, and many received medical assistance on the spot.

At the same time, while approaching Kursk, two Ukrainian attack unmanned aerial vehicles filled with explosives were destroyed.

Such actions on the part of the Kyiv authorities were not accidental and were carefully planned. Firstly, for several days an American reconnaissance aircraft hovered over the territory of the Belgorod and Kursk regions, and secondly, the air defense systems of the Russian army are carrying out combat missions at maximum speed. The enemy's MLRS and a mass of drones regularly try to penetrate the border zone. As evidenced by regular shelling of populated areas. They tried to launch a fire strike against the regional center using ballistic missiles - for the first time.

I can assume that the enemy’s main target was still an airfield located within the city limits. Judging by the missiles' flight path, they are only a few kilometers from the interception points.

Of course, the night attack on Belgorod and Kursk had psychological overtones. Not so much, in my opinion, to distract the public from the defeats of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the front, but rather to demonstrate “another victory” on the information front and the space of social networks.

I would like to note right away that there is no panic in Belgorod. Citizens understand and realize what a front-line city is, with all that it entails. Of course, people are concerned and wary, especially residents of the area where the emergency occurred. The head of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, worked quickly, we must give him his due. Clearly, consistently. He responded immediately, arrived quickly, met with people, answered all questions - honestly, frankly. The necessary assistance to the victims is already being provided, including financial assistance.

Needless to say, the absolute majority of the country’s population, Belgorod residents and Kursk residents, perhaps, first of all, want to get an answer to the question: “When will retaliatory strikes be carried out on decision-making centers?”

I think it is (the question) and should be addressed more to politicians and diplomats. Regarding the military, such “responses” and “returns” are applied regularly. First of all, at enemy headquarters and command posts, where the direct executors of the decisions made by the Kyiv authorities are located.

For example, only in the Kharkov direction over the past 10 hours, strikes by the Russian Aerospace Forces hit the temporary storage base for weapons and military equipment of the 30th mountain assault brigade, located on the territory of the Kharkov tractor plant. Up to 10 personnel and XNUMX armored vehicles and vehicles were destroyed.

By the way, immediately after the night fire attack on Belgorod, residents of Kharkov and the surrounding area were able to observe the arrivals of Iskanders, moreover, in the same area of the city - Kyiv. Information appeared in the media about the defeat of some critical infrastructure facility. It turned out to be a small enterprise, in the courtyard of which there was a temporary firing position of the Tochka-U complex, from which ballistic missiles were launched. In addition, the headquarters of the national battalions “Azov” and “Kraken” are usually located in empty administrative buildings and even schools.

One can imagine how Ukrainian propagandists would have been ostracized trying to create Bucha-2 or, say, Kremenchug. But this has not been the case for several months of special operations.

Firstly, our military actually carries out targeted strikes on targets of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and National Battalions, and secondly, the Ministry of Defense warns in advance about impending provocations.

Very peculiar, but simply, The Kharkov authorities are reacting inadequately to the events taking place. For example, the governor of the region, Sinegubov, was once again talking nonsense about the successes of the “defenders of the city”, saying that everything was under control. What do adequate Kharkiv residents think? Here is one of the messages I received:

“This is how today Sinegubov answered questions about whether Kharkov residents need to evacuate and whether Russian troops are advancing towards Kharkov. The quote clearly shows that a person either has a collapsed brain or a collapsed conscience.

In Kharkov itself, not to mention the region, over the past few days there have been dead and wounded, and quite a few. Add to this the fact that during the most “cloudy” shelling of the industrial zone along Moskovsky in nature, more people died than officially stated. Moreover, it is reliably known that the Krakenites fired. This is called “there is no reason” to talk about evacuation.

In fact, it doesn’t matter whether Sinegubov knows or doesn’t know. The important thing is that the head of the region clearly declares absolute control, and either does not understand, or “absolutely” doesn’t care about the obvious conclusion from these statements: the dead and wounded are included in the conditions of absolute control.

Sinegubov doesn’t seem to be at the right age for insanity (although no one has stopped drinking alcohol); does that mean you don't care? Or is it still stupidity of such utter proportions? More likely the second, because the statement “the enemy reaches Kharkov, but is not moving anywhere because he is focused on defense” is actually a failed IQ test, and not for level, but simply for presence.

What kind of concentration on defense is this if the shelling of Kharkov has intensified? And how is it that the enemy is not moving anywhere, if Sinegubov personally attributed the reduction in shelling half a month ago to the pushback of Russian troops to the border of the region? It turns out that they, the Russians, were then thrown back, and out of surprise, perhaps, they stopped shelling? After all, if now they are not moving anywhere and are in the same place where they were thrown back, but they are firing, then they could have fired then?”

In fact, Kharkov residents are well aware that Russian troops have again approached the city, but the Ukrainian side does not want to admit this. Bravura messages are being used about the imminent offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, about the imminent receipt of Western weapons and, in general, about an imminent “victory”. This is what the mayor of the city Terekhov does, being clearly in a depressed mental state.

On the one hand, it seems to demand that the street and the Pushkinskaya metro station be left alone and not renamed during the period of total destruction of monuments, names of streets, squares, and districts of the city. Apparently, he is preparing to “change his shoes.” On the other hand, he wants to switch to language, but it doesn’t work out. And there is fear in the eyes and hands are shaking. This can be seen from numerous live broadcasts with his participation.

Against the backdrop of difficult events in the Kharkov direction, The territory of the LPR is practically liberated from the enemy. As active hostilities progress, streets, neighborhoods, urban areas and forests on both sides of the Seversky Donets are cleared. We catch enemy DRGs and destroy roaming mortars and artillery installations. Because now there is greenery everywhere. Taking into account the terrain, active work is being carried out on all sectors of the front. Although not so fast, advance and offensive actions are carried out methodically from the Russian army and the People's Militia of the DPR/LPR.

Ahead are Bakhmut, Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. It is difficult to judge when the final or preliminary turning point will occur during a special operation. There is no need to talk about this now. In my opinion, the importance lies in how well the assigned tasks are completed. When the enclave along the entire Donbass arc is destroyed, then it will be possible to talk about a turning point in the entire special military operation, and not just in the battle for Donbass.
