Odessa, May 08 (Navigator, Artem Buzila) - The massacre that occurred in Odessa on May 2 made many think about the continued existence of the state of Ukraine in the previous format. The slogan about a “united country” on TV screens did not correspond to what was happening in reality - when a brutal crowd watched with glee as a burning man fell from a building, and on the ground he was brutally finished off with hooting: “Take it, separatist.”

What do Odessa residents themselves think about the consequences of the tragedy? “Navigator” asked them about this:

Valery Pesetsky, political scientist:

“I am afraid that after the Odessa massacre it is impossible to talk about a united Ukraine. It is simply impossible to blame the country on blood. Moreover, the Kiev government behaves according to the old Frankish law: “Everything for friends, nothing for enemies.”

People who suffered during the massacre and fire in the House of Trade Unions were taken to the pre-trial detention center. At the same time, none of those who shot people, who set fire to the House of Trade Unions, who beat people to death, was summoned to the police for questioning. Such a blatant one-sidedness of the situation only strengthens the negative feeling of Odessa residents, and all Ukrainians.

For example, “Sotnik Mikola” is one of the leaders of the slaughterhouse in Odessa. As the media found out, since 2012 he has been wanted by the Comintern police department for fraud. And at the same time, there is a video of Parubiy rewarding him as a hero. It is unlikely that all these acts can evoke support not only among Odessa residents, but also among all Ukrainians.

I would like to note that on May 12, a meeting of Bessarabia deputies of all levels will be held in Bolgrad. Depending on the results of the referendum in Lugansk, at the congress in Bolgrad, Bessarabian deputies may raise the issue of autonomy for the region within Ukraine.

What awaits Ukraine? We must not forget that the bloody massacre in Odessa laid the foundation for a whole chain of revenge. There are reports that the residents of Sevastopol want to take revenge on Bandera, and similar actions are also planned in Russia. I can imagine that a sad future awaits us."

Vladimir Poluev, TV journalist:

“On May 2, Ukraine died. Yes, until they understood this in Kyiv. They didn’t fully understand it in Odessa. But this is a fait accompli. The only way for Kyiv to maintain its control over the southeastern regions is to flood the land with blood.

The first point is the information policy of Kyiv. Central television channels are doing everything to kill the very idea of a single country, so that Ukrainian television will be hated in the South-East. We remember the sign on STB “dichlorvos for Colorado”. We remember the broadcasts of “1+1” and other TV channels - there was a complete cleansing of the information field so that in Kyiv people considered everyone who did not agree with the official policy of the capital as terrorists and separatists.

In the regions, these actions have the opposite effect - they stop watching Ukrainian television, stop communicating with journalists and start beating them. This leads to stratification of the information space, which is the first sign of a final split.

Secondly, there is an active dehumanization of the warring parties. Suffice it to recall the joy of people’s deputies (!) over the cleansing of Odessa from “separatists”, ordinary people on Facebook, the singing of the Ukrainian anthem over the corpses during the fire in the House of Trade Unions - for Euromaidan supporters, the death of dozens of people in terrible agony was not a tragedy - for For them, this was the destruction of the Colorados.

The young girls who poured Molotov cocktails do not feel responsible. They consider themselves heroines and romantics of the revolution. Now a similar process is happening on the part of Anti-Maidan supporters - for them, all EuroMaidan supporters after the events of May 2 became murderers, Banderaites and fascists.

And this division into two camps leaves practically no chance - apparently, sooner or later the parties will reach the position: if you are not with us, then against us. And you will have to decide. And here you don’t even need external intervention. If the current state of affairs continues, the South-East, which initially protested against nationalist values, will cease to perceive the very idea of Ukraine. Or all dissidents will be crushed using mass repressions, arrests and massacres.”

Ivan Lizan, political commentator:

“Frankly speaking, there can be no talk of any united Ukraine after the Odessa Khatyn. It is impossible to get along with characters who do not consider your compatriots human. In the Odessa House of Trade Unions, she was killed in brutal ways and the illusory hope for the integrity of the remains of Ukraine burned out, and explosions and shooting in the East will finally scatter the ashes of Ukraine to the wind. The only thing that can temporarily save what is left of Ukraine is terror. However, it does not unite; sooner or later the force of reaction will begin to equal the force of action.

Some people may like it or not, but it won’t change anything: Ukraine no longer exists.”

Alexander Vasiliev, deputy of the Odessa City Council:

“I believe that there has never been a united Ukraine, and all the talk about it simply denied reality. We all see what persistence in denying reality leads to.

How will the borders of the same Novorossiya, which could be formed in the place of Ukraine, be formed?.. I think that these borders will spontaneously form as a result of today’s events.”
