“There is a limit”: Moscow threatened Warsaw with retaliatory measures

The Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergei Andreev stated this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He commented on the seizure of the secondary school building at the Russian embassy in favor of the Polish state.
“The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs distances itself from the seizure of Russian diplomatic real estate - they say that this is a matter for local authorities, at the request of which the courts make decisions on the transfer to the state treasury of objects that were built or acquired legally by the Soviet/Russian side.
Neither the Foreign Ministry nor the Polish courts see any violations of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations in such actions, which very clearly demonstrates the level of legal culture and basic decency of our local non-partners.
Their claims also apply to other objects that we still have in Poland, but there is a limit, beyond which mirror measures will follow in relation to Polish diplomatic real estate in Moscow. There is less of it than we have here, but it is there,” Andreev said in an interview with Izvestia.
At the same time, the diplomat does not rule out that Poland will continue to illegally seize Russian money, as was recently done with $1,2 million in the accounts of the Russian embassy.
“If Warsaw has decided to commit an obvious violation of the Vienna Convention, which is “not noticed” except by the Polish Foreign Ministry, the Polish prosecutor’s office and the courts, then you can expect anything from it.
In addition to our money, the holdings (bank accounts and property) of dozens of Russian companies and entrepreneurs have been frozen or arrested in Poland, and they are now looking for loopholes in national and EU legislation that would allow this foreign property to be expropriated, that is, simply stolen,” the ambassador said .
He does not exclude that there may be a rupture or downgrade of diplomatic relations between Russia and Poland.
“This possibility always exists. Whether it will become a reality depends on the decisions of our leadership and the Polish authorities,” Andreev concluded.
