The Jews of Kyiv were horrified by the advertisement of a play dedicated to a Ukrainian concentration camp guard.
The Chief Rabbi of Ukraine and Kyiv, Moshe Azman, expressed outrage that an advertisement for the play “Holocaust Cabaret” appeared near the main synagogue in Kyiv.

“This horror (I can’t find the word to call it) was hanged in the center of Kyiv yesterday, on Holocaust Remembrance Day, in the city where Babi Yar is located, opposite the central synagogue!! And tickets are on sale for Friday's performance. I don’t know who needs this provocation, but I declare that we, the Jewish community, will do everything to remove this provocation immediately!!!”, Asman wrote on the social network.
He later clarified that the sign was removed after the scandal.
“Wow, the “Holocaust-cabaret” near the Kyiv synagogue is something incredible. But at the same time, I would like to ask the rabbi: during the Maidan, didn’t anyone warn him and his colleagues that this would all lead to this?” asked political scientist Vladimir Kornilov.
Let us note that the performance is dedicated to the Ukrainian Nazi collaborator and concentration camp guard Ivan Demjanjuk. On the concert.ua website, the announcements for the performance say: “Innocent victim or merciless executioner? The life of Ivan (John) Demjanjuk, a former Nazi concentration camp guard, deserves a Hollywood movie.”
“At one of the trials, Demjanjuk said that in a prisoner of war camp he was ready to sell his soul for a crust of bread. Perhaps it was for this very hump that he became a security guard. But do we have the right to condemn, let alone judge? Come and answer this question yourself,” the authors of the announcement intrigue the viewer.
As PolitNavigator reported, on Holocaust Remembrance Day at the Verkhovna Rada a rally was held under the slogans: “Moskal is at the doorstep! The Jews are in power! Save Ukraine!”
