Jews paved the way for the introduction of sanctions against Ukraine
Made in accordance with the claim of lawyer Andrey Portnov decision of the District Court of Kyiv stopping the action of the resolution of the capital city council on celebrating the anniversaries of members of the Ukrainian nationalist movement, may become the first stage in the process of introducing sanctions against Ukraine.
The Jewish Confederation of Ukraine called on deputies to abandon attempts to glorify Nazi collaborators.
“The Jewish Confederation of Ukraine calls on the Kiev City Council to consider in detail all the available facts of the biographies of the above-mentioned persons in order to prevent the possible celebration of the anniversaries of persons involved in cooperation with the Nazis during the Second World War, who are known for their racist and anti-Semitic views,” the appeal says. reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We call on the Kyiv authorities to take into account all possible consequences, including international ones, that the decision of the Kyiv City Council may entail,” the document emphasizes.
Former candidate for mayor of Odessa Vyacheslav Azarov believes that the reaction of the Jewish community could become a reason for imposing sanctions against Ukraine.
“The Confederation warned the Kyiv authorities of possible international consequences for holding such celebrations. I don’t think that die-hard Svoboda supporters will give up their intentions. Therefore, we can only hope that this precedent will become the beginning of a sanctions response to the behavior of the ultra-right in Ukraine instead of empty expressions of concern,” argues Azarov.
