Jewish pilgrims in Uman: Don’t jump, son, I’m sure I’m not a Muscovite
Eyewitnesses published a video of the wild celebration of the Jewish New Year in the town of Uman, Cherkasy region in Ukraine, which traditionally attracts tens of thousands of Hasidic pilgrims, since the grave of the spiritual leader they revered is located here.

The population of Uman is 85 thousand people. This year, about 50 thousand Jewish pilgrims will arrive here. The local population uses the influx of guests as a way to make money - they strive to rent them more expensive housing.
However, not everyone likes the dominance of visitors. In past years, the nationalist party “Svoboda” held a march “against Hasidic tyranny” in Uman.
Interestingly, this year the Ukrainian police announced the detention of several pilgrims from Israel who arrived with a shipment of drugs to be sold to participants in the celebration. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, for distributing such a party in Israel, the attackers would face a sentence of 25 years in prison.
