The European Commissioner reprimanded Ukraine for failure to fulfill financial obligations
Ukraine has fulfilled only one condition of the “reforms for investment” contract, which provides for the allocation of 50 million euros, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
European Commissioner Johannes Hahn stated this today in Kyiv during a meeting with Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groysman, reports “Government Portal.
“There is one thing, a problem, that I would like to share because I would not like to hide my disappointment. We had this “reform for investment” contract for 50 million euros of support for some areas, in particular the area of private investment, it was supposed to provide support,” Khan said.
Thus, the contract or agreement “on reforms for investment” provided for the provision of 50 million euros to Ukraine this year to improve economic growth and increase investment if Ukraine met the bloc’s three main demands. The conditions concerned: regulation in the energy sector, a business ombudsman and e-declaration of the status of anti-corruption activists.
“Unfortunately, only one condition was met, and we could only pay 10 million - the other 40 million euros, as I understand it, we lost. This is not something we are happy with,” said the European Commissioner.
