Euronotes with Russian inscriptions cause a stir in Finland
The Finnish police are investigating the case of the use of fake banknotes in Finland - props from the “Bank of Joke” with inscriptions in Russian, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The police of the Finnish region of Häme reported this on Facebook.
“A young man from Toivakka tried to pay for a hotel in Lahti with counterfeit €200 banknotes over the weekend. During his arrest, eight such bills were found in his possession. All of them were written in red letters in Russian: “Not a means of payment,” the police indicated.
The detainee said that he purchased them on the Internet; an investigation into the incident has been launched, the department indicated.
In addition, another similar case is being investigated. Last week, 20- and 50-euro banknotes were also handed over to the police, with a message in English stating that they were not money and were intended for filming.
