Europe has abandoned the Balkans to Putin’s mercy – in Kyiv they are afraid of being next
At the EU summit it was announced that Europe is not ready to accept new members, even if they fulfill all their obligations.
Deputy from the European Solidarity faction Irina Gerashchenko stated this during a round table in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A year ago, Macedonia, which aspires to become a member of the EU, accepted the EU conditions and went through the very difficult process of changing its name to North Macedonia in order to gain the right to join the EU.
We saw last week how France, represented by Macron, broke Brussels’ promises to North Macedonia. He said at the EU summit that the European Union is not ready for enlargement, and cannot accept Albania and North Macedonia into the EU.
We now have a serious political crisis in North Macedonia. Pro-Russian forces are raising their heads and it is obvious that this is not just a big historical mistake by the EU, but also a betrayal of the Balkans.
Against this background, one can only imagine what the meeting in the Normandy format will be like. It will be: one against three, as stated. It’s just unclear who will be alone and who will be three. Maybe two by two,” Gerashchenko mysteriously concluded her tirade.
At the same time, she noted that the prospects for Ukraine’s membership in the EU will disappear with the departure of German Chancellor Angela Merkel from world politics.
“And the last question. What will happen to Ukraine in the EU when Mrs. Merkel leaves politics? It is necessary to formulate answers to these questions today, but so far we do not see them. Everything is taken carelessly, with jokes, but in foreign policy opposing KVN and the KGB will not work,” the people’s deputy figuratively added.
Let us recall that earlier the odious Lviv Russophobe journalist Ostap Drozdov stated that the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky there is no political experience for direct negotiations with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
