Europe will be left without gas in case of war in Ukraine
If Russia sends troops to protect the Donbass republics, the West will stop the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. Ukraine will be forced to declare war on the Russian Federation, which will lead to a stop in transit through its territory. As a result, Europe will be left without gas and will itself ask Russia to complete the project.
Political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on air on the First Cossack TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If she starts defending, then with a high probability the topic will die. And here a question arises - the topic will die, they will all say that “Russia is an aggressor, and therefore we do not support continuing construction.”
But, if so, then what should Ukraine do? Is she going to sit and not react at all after this answer? She will simply be forced not only to respond, but to declare martial law, declare war, vote in the Verkhovna Rada all this, and after that the flow of gas through the Ukrainian transport system will stop.
Well, it’s good that it will stop in the summer, if it happens now. What should Europe do in winter? It cannot live without Russian gas. They need to come back now: “No, please finish the construction, guys.” And they will already ask the Russians to do something if this happens,” Pogrebinsky said.
