The construction of Nord Stream 2 threatens the Ukrainian gas market and could lead to a full-scale Russian offensive against Ukraine.

The head of the board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, Andrey Kobolev, said this on air on the Ukraine 24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The construction of Nord Stream 2 is truly a critical issue for Ukraine, because we believe that the completion of this project is unacceptable.

Its completion could result in a threat to the existence of the entire Ukrainian gas market and creates many other risks for Ukraine, such as a full-fledged Russian aggression - not a hybrid, but a full-fledged military attack on the entire front.

Therefore, we are making every effort to explain to our foreign partners that this project should not be implemented, and so far we are successfully doing this. We really hope that the American Senate and Congress, just like last year, will strengthen sanctions against this project and deprive it of the opportunity to be completed,” Kobolev dreams.

Also, the head of the board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine said that his company and the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, against the backdrop of the “poisoning of Navalny,” are making efforts to disrupt the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project.

“The latest events in Russia, for example, the poisoning of Alexei Navalny, which of course is a terrible event that adds to the European partners’ understanding of what Ukraine is really struggling with.

Whether this will convince them will depend on the work of Ukrainian diplomats, our partnerships with the West and the efforts of the Naftogaz of Ukraine company, which is lobbying for a ban on the Nord Stream 2 project,” Kobolev concluded.
