Europe will cancel visa-free travel for epidemic-stricken Ukraine
Due to the lack of a properly functioning system for monitoring and preventing epidemics, Ukraine may be deprived of a simplified visa regime for entry into the EU.
Olga Golubovskaya, adviser to the Minister of Health and former chief infectious disease specialist of Ukraine, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Of course, we must be prepared for anything. But there must be scientifically based forecasts. Epidemiologists must tell us clearly in the near future whether there will be an epidemic in the near future or not.
But to do this, you must first of all turn your face to the professionals who have been dispersed, are being dispersed, and are planning to do this.
We need to unite everyone and finally start working on a system that not only protects us all, but is also the main component of the country’s national security.
Infectious diseases have no borders and they have the potential to spread internationally.
If we are constantly facing some uncontrolled outbreaks here next to Europe, then all this could end in the loss of visa-free travel.
I understand that this is a political decision, but this may be taken advantage of sooner or later,” warned the minister’s adviser.
