The European Union is helping Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko prolong anti-Russian sanctions indefinitely by failing to implement the Minsk agreements.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced this today at a meeting with European entrepreneurs.

“He’s practically given the tool he needs in his hands. The longer he sabotages the fulfillment of his obligations, the longer these agreements will remain on paper, and the longer the anti-Russian sanctions that he presents to his electorate as proof of the effectiveness of his policies will remain in place. I don’t even have any doubts that these are all links in one chain,” Lavrov said.

According to him, Russia itself will never initiate a discussion of the issue of lifting sanctions.

“We want to provide ourselves with a situation where we will not only be 100% independent, but in key things for the economy, state, and social sphere, we will not rely on the mercy of one or another of our partners. It’s not without difficulty, but we can do it,” Lavrov said.
