Europe decided to empty the granaries of Ukraine
The European Parliament abolished EU import duties on all Ukrainian exports for a year.
515 European deputies voted for the corresponding decision, 32 voted against it, and 11 abstained.
Import duties on industrial products, fruits and vegetables, as well as anti-dumping duties and protective measures on steel imports have been completely abolished.
In a commentary to PolitNavigator, economist Alexander Dudchak calls this decision “an attack of unprecedented generosity,” which Ukraine has been striving for since the signing of the association agreement with the EU.
“In fact, everything is simply explained. What is the current export from Ukraine? Metallurgy? Minus. Fertilizers and other chemical industry products? Also no. Is it just old stock in warehouses? Perhaps the infamous round timber – no one will object now,” the expert said.
He emphasizes that today the main item of possible export from Ukraine is grains and products of the agricultural sector and food industry.
“Europe has decided to sweep everything clean out of Ukraine. In connection with the approaching possible famine, will this be a peremoga?” Dudchak sums up rhetorically.
