This was stated today in Kyiv at the “Yalta International Strategy” conference by the Vice-President of the European Commission for the Energy Union, Maros Šefčović, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Commercial interest in this project is very strong. There is strategic importance, of course. But there is also unanimity regarding the importance of maintaining gas transit through Ukraine. I think we need to negotiate with Russia on this matter,” Shefrovich said.
At the same time, he noted that the Ukrainian gas transportation system needs investments for modernization.
“We need to make the Ukrainian transit system attractive to investors so that attractive offers can be made legally,” Shefrovich said.
