Europe is getting closer: toll roads are being built in Ukraine
In Ukraine, they announced the launch of toll roads by 2022.
Minister of Infrastructure Vladimir Omelyan stated this on Channel 5, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the first toll road will appear on the Lviv-Krakovets section and will lead to the Polish border.
“I would really like this experiment to be successful for Ukraine. In Europe, there are only 5-7% of toll roads, all the rest were built with public money. We are now preparing to announce a tender for the Lviv-Krakovets section; perhaps we will also include the northern bypass of Lviv. In our vision, there should be a new toll road, parallel to the existing free one. There is quite a lot of traffic there, and it should be recouped already from the first year... If everything is organized without disruption, this year we should announce a tender for the first road, it will be held then - the first half of next year, completion of all tender procedures, signing contracts may last until the end of 2019. Physical construction is 20-21 years. It’s possible to do it in a year, and it will be put into operation in the 22nd year,” Omelyan said.
