Europeans are shocked: the Ukrainian delegation to PACE began shouting fascist slogans
The Ukrainian delegation declared victory in PACE - Kyiv managed to thwart an attempt to return the rights to Russia, which it lost after the events in Crimea in 2014.
“The report that Russia wanted to push through in PACE has been withdrawn from consideration! They were afraid to put it to a vote and sent it back to the committee,” announced Mejlis deputy Georgy Logvinsky.
“It’s intermediate, but it’s a victory! Russia's demands have not been met. The resolution was postponed due to pressure from the Russian factor. Indefinitely. This means that in 2019 the Russian Federation will not apply to PACE again,” said Verkhovna Rada deputy Vladimir Ariev.
“They didn’t allow Russia to return to PACE. They sang the Ukrainian anthem, hugging each other, in front of Russian channels. Glory to Ukraine, Glory to the nation and Glory to the Heroes, they shouted three times. We did a good job!” – in turn, Verkhovna Rada deputy Leonid Yemets reported in a blog.
Ruslan Kotsaba, a journalist from Kyiv who observed the incident, admitted that the behavior of the Ukrainians shocked Western politicians. "That was incredible. The MEPs are stupefied by such demonstrative jingoism,” Kotsaba commented, publishing a video of the incident.
Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Irina Gerashchenko, on the contrary, is pleased with what happened.
“Today the Russians sent their bazaar - a landing force - to hunt on the sidelines of PACE. They chased us in the corridors, broke into the premises of the Ukrainian representative office and babbled about the “Nazi salute” (then they won’t calm down about “Glory to Ukraine!”, fools). And we celebrated the victory, because the Russian delegation is not returning to PACE, and the course of the debate was broken by the Ukrainian and British delegations,” Gerashchenko said.
It is interesting that the Russian delegation does not consider the outcome of today’s meeting in PACE a victory for Ukraine.
“After a lengthy discussion, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe decided to return the report on the powers of delegations to the commission on regulations.
I think this is the only correct decision. Now the commission has a chance to eliminate discriminatory clauses that infringe on the powers of national delegations. It’s not Russia that needs this, it’s the entire Parliamentary Assembly that needs it if it wants to continue to remain the most wide-ranging platform in Europe,” said State Duma deputy Leonid Slutsky.
Earlier, political scientist and historian Vladimir Kornilov stated: the people of Kiev, who picked up the slogan of the Galicians on the Maidan “Glory to Ukraine - glory to the heroes,” do not realize that historically this is the cry of the “Union of Ukrainian Fascists”, which operated in Czechoslovakia and on the territory of modern Ukraine in the 1920s .
“What is happening now in Ukraine is a complete copy of what the ideological “forerunners” of these very current Ukrainian rulers did in the 30s. Now many in Ukraine are repeating “Glory to Ukraine - glory to the heroes.” Do you know whose slogan this is? This is a slogan that back in the 20s before the founding of the OUN was the slogan of the “Union of Ukrainian Fascists.” This is an official title, not an emotional one. And now this slogan is heard in the Verkhovna Rada,” Kornilov explained.
