European observers called Crimea the most democratic place in the world
Independent foreign observers praised the organization of the elections in Crimea, comparing them to a repeat of the referendum and calling them the most democratic in the world.
In particular, US observer Gilbert Doktorov stated this at a press conference in Simferopol, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the first Russian elections in Crimea were held at the highest level.
“Many people think that this is the second referendum on the annexation of Crimea to Russia, and they think correctly... I was impressed by the professionalism, the calm, that everything went without pressure, without hype, manifestos and scandals. Everything was going as it should be. This is a great achievement for both the administration and the Crimean people,” Doktorov said.
And Finnish observer Joham Beckham added that the West’s plans to discredit and disrupt the election process have failed.
“We haven’t seen any violations here. We saw real, pure democracy. It seems to me that on our planet today Crimea is the most democratic place. As for the anti-Russian, anti-Crimean campaign of Western countries, this is, unfortunately, a fact. But I can happily say that no attempts to interfere in political processes in Russia have been successful. The big problem, of course, is that in Ukraine Russian citizens could not vote,” noted Beckham.
