The European Union will consider Crimea a “frozen conflict” – “this will be for a long time”
Moscow - Simferopol, January 13 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) - The European Union predicts that Crimea will “for a long time” remain in the status of a “frozen conflict” territory, said Latvian Foreign Minister Edgar Rinkevich.
“We do not recognize the annexation of Crimea, like the entire European Union... We know that Russia considers this issue closed, and I think our disagreements will continue for a long time. After all, this is a fundamental issue for both sides,” he said.

“I think we have come to the point where what you call a “frozen conflict” begins. This has been going on for a long time, and we have to take it into account. The EU has already made a decision on a whole range of measures within the framework of the policy of non-recognition of the annexation - or annexation - of Crimea. Any negotiations on this issue can only begin on the principles of respect for the territorial integrity of Ukraine,” the Latvian official emphasized.
