The European Union is responsible for the collapse of Ukraine
The European Union is responsible for the collapse of Ukraine. Austrian writer Hannes Hofbauer stated this today at a press conference in Moscow.
“Brussels did not accept Yanukovych’s refusal to sign an association agreement with the EU. This was the beginning of the collapse of Ukraine. It seems to me that the European Union bears its own guilt for the fact that the Americans took charge of the events on the Maidan. John McCain said in those days that Russia begins in Kyiv. That is, it was not about Ukraine, but about a policy of containment, maybe even a change in the Russian government,” Hofbauer said.
He believes that the driving force in the Ukrainian issue was the European Union, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The United States took over spiritual leadership around the end of February. Eventually an economic war began. The Americans are introducing their own sanctions, which affect not only Russia, but also European partners, that is, potential competitors of the American side. It seems to me that this has nothing to do with Crimea. Economic goals are pursued in Europe, and geopolitical goals in the United States. But there is no economic effect. Sanctions hurt German businesses, but not American ones. I do not understand this. I think this is due to the fact that Germany is not a sovereign state,” Hofbauer said.
