The European Union again discriminated against residents of Crimea
EU member countries are refusing to allow the Russian training sailing vessel Sedov into their territorial waters because of the cadets of the Kerch State Maritime Technological University on board.
This was reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent with reference to Ukrainian and European diplomatic departments.
As stated by the Estonian Foreign Ministry, the reason for the ban was the country’s position on non-recognition of the Russian status of Crimea. The Polish authorities have the same motivation.
It is noteworthy that the refusal to accept the ship in Estonia took place on the eve of Kersti Kaljulaid’s visit to Moscow. The Russian Foreign Ministry called Estonia’s actions unfriendly and recalled that last year residents of Tallinn, whose port Sedov visited, happily visited the sailing ship on an excursion:
“The Russian Embassy regards the ban on the Russian training ship “Sedov” to enter the territorial waters of the Republic of Estonia on April 13-14 as an unfriendly act of the Estonian authorities, carried out, especially on the eve of the upcoming trip to Moscow by the President of Estonia.”
And the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine happily received the news about the ban: “Thank you for the decision of the Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki to refuse the Russian sailing ship Sedov to enter the territorial waters of the Republic of Poland. Poland, together with Estonia, began to defend international law. Crimea is Ukraine, and Russia must be held accountable for illegal actions.”
