Eurovision receives a powerful blow to the gut
No one will broadcast Eurovision from Kyiv in 2017 on Russian territory. This decision was made after the Security Service of Ukraine on March 22 banned Russian contestant Yulia Samoilova from entering the country for three years, reports BBC News.

“At the same time, in 2018, regardless of who will broadcast the Eurovision contest - VGTRK or Channel One, Russia will be represented at the competition by Yulia Samoilova. As VGTRK reported, this is the position of the leaders of the largest Russian media holdings. Kyiv lacked common sense, Channel One commented on the decision of the Security Service of Ukraine. The only Russian performer whom Kyiv was ready to see in Ukraine, Andrei Makarevich, called the ban on the entry of Yulia Samoilova a great stupidity. Philip Kirkorov asked all Eurovision participants to dedicate their songs to Yulia Samoilova,” Vesti.Ru reports.
It should be noted that music critic Artur Gasparyan wrote on the pages of “Moskovsky Komsomolets” that the cancellation of the broadcast of the competition in Russia for Eurovision is tantamount to “if not a disaster, then a powerful blow to the gut.”
Yulia Samoilova herself also commented on the SBU ban.
“It’s very funny to watch all this from the outside, because I don’t understand what they saw in me, they saw some kind of threat in me, in such a little girl. By and large, I'm not upset. I'm continuing to study. For some reason, I think that everything will change,” Samoilova said on Channel One.
