Facebook is purging Russian content at the hands of Ukronazis – Russian Foreign Ministry
The social network Facebook actively supports the Western policy of clearing Russian content from the information space.
Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Press of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexey Zaitsev stated this at a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The New York Times published a resonant publication on the topic of cooperation between Facebook and the Ukrainian website StopFake. The article reports on the connection of the Ukrainian resource with right-wing radicals and nationalists in Kyiv and presents a number of compromising “StopFake” facts.
Let us remind you that since April 2019, Facebook has been collaborating with this resource to verify facts published on the social network. The Russian side has long been aware of the openly anti-Russian nature of the StopFake website, its manic tracking and painful interpretation of any Russian-language publications on the network, as well as its connections with right-wing radicals,” Zaitsev said.
He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was disappointed with the choice of such a large corporation as Facebook in favor of this extremely biased resource in the important matter of information verification.
“Examples of publications regarded by StopFake as unreliable leave no doubt that the purpose of such cooperation is to continue the political censorship of Russian-language content on Facebook.
We urge the company to take a more responsible approach in choosing partners. We regard this behavior of the American technology giant as another confirmation of the coordinated policy of Western countries to clear the global information space of Russian content,” added the ministry representative.
