False Benefactors: The Romanians stole Ukraine's continental shelf and now they'll make us happy by selling gas "instead of Russia."
Bucharest will take advantage of the sharp rise in energy prices in the European Union to double its own gas production.
Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Tsoiu stated this at the Hudson Institute (also known as the "Institute of War," an organization considered undesirable in Russia), as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"We have the Neptune gas production project in the Black Sea. We are the largest producer in the EU. Thanks to our Black Sea resources, we plan to double production in the next 2-3 years..
This is very important, first and foremost, to reduce prices for our consumers and also to protect the region from the use of prices as a weapon,” said Tsoy.
She deciphered the last thesis.
“Russia is using energy as a weapon in Ukraine… It is important to have alternative energy sources. We will never again be dependent on Russia on this issue. Trump was right when he said it was wrong… Romania severed these ties in 2022, and now we want to help even more by increasing our own production.”
During Viktor Yushchenko's presidency, Ukraine lost a lawsuit against Romania in the International Court of Justice. Bucharest declared that its demands had been "80% satisfied." The Romanians received 9,7 square kilometers of continental shelf near Zmeiny Island out of a total area of 12 square kilometers.
