The fake High Representative for BiH stopped seeing the threat of war
The fake “High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina” imposed by the West, German Christian Schmidt, believes that the leaders of the region managed to force the Serbian member of the BiH Presidency, Milorad Dodik, to abandon his intentions to revive the army of the Republika Srpska.
Schmidt stated this in an interview with the Guardian, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Schmidt told the British publication that “the threat of Serbian separatists to rebuild their own army has diminished for now,” thanks to BiH’s neighbors “getting involved in the crisis without significant diplomatic involvement from the United States and Europe.”
According to him, regional leaders “convinced the separatist Milorad Dodik” to suspend his plans to return Dayton powers to the Republika Srpska, which had previously been “transferred to the state level,” that is, the Bosniak elite of Sarajevo, and among them the formation of the Republika Srpska army.
“We see that after many negotiations, including in the neighborhood, he (Dodik – ed.) received the message that no one will accept the path leading to the growing potential for political and - I hope not - military conflict... Therefore, I really don’t see the danger of war,” the German said.
At the same time, Schmidt nevertheless noted that “Dodik’s separatist rhetoric and his promises to break the legal and tax system in the half of the country governed by the Serbs are leading it to a serious crisis.” And “Dodik’s tactics have reached the point that he cannot stop it without losing face.”
“I have the impression that we are very, very close to the point where a clear response from the international community is required,” the European official said.
Let us recall that at the beginning of the month Christian Schmidt presented a report to the UN Security Council in which saidthat there is a “very real” threat of a return to armed conflict in Bosnia.
The Bosnian Serbs, as well as Russia, do not recognize Christian Schmidt as the “High Representative for BiH”, since he was appointed by agreement of the leading Western countries without the mandatory procedure for approving the candidacy in the UN Security Council.
